Black Caviar heading to Morphettville, History in the making

10/04/2012

I can confirm following a telephone conversation with Peter Moody this morning Black Caviar will have her next race start at Morphettville. Peter said we can take the Distinctive Goodwood as done however he will also nominate her for the Sportingbet Classic Group 1 (Robert Sangster Stakes) to be run on the 28th of April 2012. Black Caviar will be having a Barrier Trial on the 19th of April in Melbourne and following that Peter will assess how forward she is to also run in this race.

The SAJC thanks Peter Moody and his team for their  open  and honest discussions over recent months. More particularly today we thank them for giving South Australians the opportunity to see the Great Mare "Black Caviar" attempt to make history at Morphettville when she aims to maintain her unbeaten record, winning her twentieth straight race and her tenth Group 1.

Premier Jay Weatherill congratulated the SAJC for securing Morphettville as the venue for Black Caviar's return to racing.

There is not a club in the country which would not have wanted the honour of having her race at their track before she heads overseas and the SAJC is extremely excited  to be the chosen club.

This is a huge coup for the SAJC and all those involved in securing the super-mare for Morphettville.

General Admission and hospitality tickets can be purchased online at sajc.com.au or at Morphettville Racecourse during office hours.

Black Caviar Update for Schweppes Oaks Day

29/03/2012

South Australian Jockey Club Chief Executive, Brenton Wilkinson, has spoken with Peter Moody, trainer of Black Caviar, this morning.

Mr Moody has advised his first option for Black Caviar's return to racing is the Group 1 Sportingbet Classic at Morphettville on 28th April 2012. However Mr Moody has indicated it is still too early in her return to work to put an exact timeline on when she will next race. Brenton will be in communication with the Moody Racing Team again in a week's time.

The South Australian Jockey Club thanks Peter Moody for his availability and open communication in respect to his super mare Black Caviar.

Under race conditions nominations for the Sportingbet Classic do not close until 17th April at 12 noon and until this time there is no obligation for Mr Moody to confirm that Black Caviar will race at Morphettville on 28th April. Acceptances for this race will be processed on 24th April at 9 am.

The SAJC will keep all the lovers of South Australian racing informed when more news is available.
